House of Research αβζ studio Discuss a brief

Industry intelligence & tender pricing · Melbourne

Research you can rely on, and prices you can stand behind.

House of Research provides industry and sector intelligence for organisations that need evidence, not assumptions, behind their decisions — and prices tenders for contractors two separate ways, so the number is competitive, holds its margin and stands up to evaluation.

Services

Two streams. Research that holds up, and tender prices that do too.

Research

Industry and sector research

Competitor landscapes, market trends and growth pipelines mapped across core, emerging and future markets — so you know where the next opportunities are before you commit resources to chasing them.

  • Industry growth analysis
  • Industry-sector research
  • Competitor mapping
  • Growth pipeline analysis

Research

Labour market and macroeconomic analysis

Workforce, wage and skills trends tracked across Australian and New Zealand industries, alongside macroeconomic advisory on the forces actually shaping your market rather than the ones making headlines.

  • Labour market analysis
  • Wage & skills trends
  • Macroeconomic advisory
  • Sector commentary
  • Market outlooks

Research

Asset maintenance and supply chain

The right balance of planned and reactive maintenance, drawn from industry data and published research — lower whole-of-life costs, longer asset life, more productive delivery. Plus how your supply chain and sales pipeline are genuinely performing.

  • Maintenance strategy analysis
  • Whole-of-life cost review
  • Supply-chain analysis
  • Sales pipeline analysis
  • Infrastructure & social housing portfolios

Estimation

Tender price estimation

Every tender priced twice. Current rates sourced from subcontractors and suppliers, so the price reflects what the work costs in today’s market. Then a bottom-up model costing labour, materials and management from first principles. Reconciling the two gives a price you can defend line by line.

  • Price estimation modelling
  • Supply-chain market pricing
  • Bottom-up cost models
  • Evidence pack with named quotes
  • Bid-fit assessment

Research-grade rigour

Deep sector analysis and validated data. Every assumption is tested and every finding checked before it reaches you — insight built to support a decision, not to sit on a shelf.

Transparent pricing

Every estimate shows its sources, including quotes from named subcontractors for the relevant scope. You can see, test and trust the basis of every bid rather than taking the number on faith.

Bid-fit assessment

An optional first step: before pricing a tender, we check it matches your capability, capacity and strategic direction — so your effort goes into the work you are best placed to win and deliver.

Approach

The number is the easy part. The basis is what survives scrutiny.

Every engagement runs the same sequence, and you see the working at each stage rather than a result at the end.

  1. 01

    Scope the decision

What the figure has to support, who will challenge it, and the precision that actually warrants. Over-engineering an estimate is as costly as under-doing it.

  2. 02

    Fix the basis

Sources, assumptions, inclusions and exclusions agreed and written down before analysis starts — so the scope of the answer is never in dispute later.

  3. 03

    Build the analysis

Data assembled, cleaned and modelled. Where evidence is thin, that is reported as a range with its drivers, not smoothed into a single confident figure.

  4. 04

    Test it

Findings validated and the methodology reviewed before anything is signed off. On pricing, the market-sourced and bottom-up numbers are reconciled against each other — where they disagree, that gap is information worth understanding, not an error to quietly average away.

  5. 05

    Hand it over

A documented deliverable with the model, the sources and the limitations attached — and for tender work, the evidence pack behind every rate. You can defend it without me in the room.

About

A research practice, run by a researcher.

House of Research is the independent practice of Sinem Celik, based in Melbourne, working across industry and sector intelligence and tender price estimation for Australian and New Zealand markets.

The practice runs two streams. Research covers sector analysis and growth strategy, labour market and macroeconomic analysis, asset maintenance and supply chain. Estimation prices tenders for contractors, built two ways and reconciled so the number holds under evaluation.

Much of the work is quantitative — modelling, benchmarking, estimation — but the useful part is rarely the arithmetic. It is knowing which comparison is fair, which data source is load-bearing, and where an apparently precise figure is resting on an assumption nobody has examined.

That discipline comes from a doctorate in investment modelling and from teaching the subject at university level, then applying it in commercial research and estimation.

We partner with hard and soft facility management providers across Australia and New Zealand. Smaller, well-scoped briefs are welcome — a defensible answer to a narrow question is often worth more than a broad report nobody reads.
